Seinfeld Claims He Convinced Amex to Create Black Card

Legendary comedian Jerry Seinfeld has once again claimed that he was behind the creation of the exclusive American Express Black Card. In an interview, he shared a new detail about how he convinced the company to create the coveted card for the super-rich.

According to Seinfeld's account, in the 1990s when he was a face of American Express, a member of the crew on one of the company's commercials asked him if he had a Black Card. The comedian didn't know what it was but decided that it was time he had one.

He called Harvey Golub, the then-president of American Express, and asked him to issue one. However, it turned out that at the time the card existed only as a rumor. Seinfeld has previously claimed that he persuaded the company to create the card after hearing about its supposed existence.
