The US stock market saw significant gains on Tuesday, with the Nasdaq Composite leading the way at 1.9% around 11 a.m. ET.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.5%, or roughly 800 points, while the S&P 500 added 1.3%.

Semiconductor stocks rebounded strongly from July's selloff, with the iShares Semiconductor ETF up 6.3%.

The rally was driven by companies reporting excellent earnings results, including Caterpillar and Palantir.

Caterpillar's Q2 2026 results beat analyst estimates across the board, driven by massive demand for its power and energy solutions.

Palantir's AI platform adoption accelerated faster than expected among US commercial customers, sending its stock soaring 27.1%.
