Shane Lowry Sets New Course Record, Leads Amgen Irish Open by Three Strokes
At the Amgen Irish Open at Trump International Ireland, Shane Lowry set a new course record with an 8-under 62 in round two. This leaves him three strokes ahead of his competitors going into the weekend.
The 2019 The Open champion's momentum was fueled by birdies on half of the holes and excellent iron play that resulted in only three birdies being outside of 10 feet, according to Lowry.
Rory McIlroy, the defending champion, struggled with reading the greens and had a round of 69. He is nine shots behind Lowry and facing more rough weather over the weekend.
