Shaw Steps Down as Microsoft Communications Chief

Frank X. Shaw, Microsoft's communications chief for decades, has announced his departure from the company. According to an internal note seen by Axios, Shaw told the communications team that he had decided 'it is time for me to move on and try new things.'

Shaw will remain at Microsoft through the end of the year and participate in the leadership transition. The company has not yet announced a successor.

'Few people have had a greater influence on Microsoft's voice and reputation,' wrote chief marketing officer Takeshi Numoto in a memo to employees seen by Axios.

Shaw's departure marks a significant change for the company, as he has been instrumental in elevating communications into a key function that influences how the company thinks and makes decisions.
