Sheets Gets Spun: Google Rotates Icon in Surprise Update

Google has updated the icon for its Google Sheets application, rotating it by 180 degrees. The change brings the x- and y-axis indicators in line with how the app actually looks, placing them in the top-left corner instead of the bottom-right. This update aligns with the new icons introduced across the entire Google Workspace family in May.

The original icon received some criticism for its layout, but it's unlikely that this was a mistake at launch due to the rigorous review process Google undertakes before releasing new features. Instead, it seems possible that public feedback led to the update, with Google deciding to make the change an easy fix.

However, this adjustment is somewhat puzzling, given that only one part of the icon was revised. The updated icon is currently available for iOS users, but not yet on the web or Android devices.
