Sheffield Hallam University Launches Centre of Excellence in AI and Robotics
Sheffield Hallam University has launched a new Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. The centre aims to drive research and innovation across various sectors, including healthcare, advanced manufacturing, and public services.
The centre will bring together academic expertise, industry partners, and public sector partners to develop AI and robotics technologies responsibly. This includes ensuring that these technologies are developed with people at their centre and address real-world challenges.
Professor Alessandro Di Nuovo will lead the Centre, which is supported by public and private sector partners including IBM, UK Research and Innovation, and Sheffield Children's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The centre has been officially launched by South Yorkshire mayor Oliver Coppard at an event attended by regional industry leaders, public sector partners, and researchers.
