Sherwin-Williams Ends Jamaican Manufacturing After Over Five Decades

Sherwin-Williams has ended more than half a century of paint manufacturing in Jamaica. The company's White Marl factory in St Catherine closed on July 31, 2026, after producing products such as Kem Flat, Kem Gloss, and Sherwil Special since 1974.

The closure means that these products will no longer be manufactured locally but instead imported from other facilities within the Sherwin-Williams international network. The company has declined to specify which locations will supply Jamaica, leaving uncertainty about the future of its Caribbean operations.

Despite the end of manufacturing, Sherwin-Williams retains a significant presence in Jamaica with 24 retail stores and approximately 180 employees. Its distribution centre at White Marl remains operational, while decommissioning of the manufacturing section is expected to continue into 2027 without affecting product quality or customer service.
