ShinyHunters Demands $13M Ransom After Breaching Data Center Provider CyrusOne
The ShinyHunters ransomware group has claimed to have breached the data center provider CyrusOne, stealing sensitive information that could lead to devastating consequences for its clients. The group is demanding a $13 million ransom in exchange for deleting the stolen data.
CyrusOne operates over 50 facilities across the US and serves hundreds of companies, including big tech names like Microsoft, Meta, and IBM. The breach has the potential to enable physical intrusions and supply-chain attacks against its clients.
According to ShinyHunters, they have exfiltrated 12.9 million Salesforce records, over 600 GB of SharePoint data, employee PII, contracts, facility diagrams, and more. Researchers warn that this information can be used for tailored phishing attacks and physical breaches.
