Shooting Near Home Depot in Benton Township: Officer Fires on Armed Suspect
A shooting incident occurred near the Home Depot in Benton Township, Michigan, on Friday morning, September 4. The incident involved a man who allegedly fired a gun at a woman, prompting a police response.
Benton Township police were called to the scene at around 8:30 a.m. and attempted to make contact with the suspect, who was in a van. However, the man reportedly pointed a gun at officers after they tried to get him to exit the vehicle.
A standoff ensued, and the suspect eventually exited the van and ran into nearby woods. Police established a perimeter and searched the area with a K-9 unit. An officer from the Berrien County Sheriff's Office Tactical Response Unit made contact with the armed suspect and shot him.
