Shopify Gains Ground on Salesforce as Maze Sees Shift in Client Preferences
Maze, a digital marketing and ecommerce systems integration company, has seen a significant shift in their clients' preferences over the past two years. From 2020 to present, the company has grown from 8 to 50 professionals under the leadership of Vince Santo.
Initially, Maze's clients were on Salesforce Commerce Cloud, but an increasing number are moving or exploring a move to Shopify. The company believes that this shift is due to Shopify's more nimble and agile platform, which allows for faster innovation and speed to market.
Vince Santo attributes the change in client preference to several factors, including Shopify's pace of innovation, modern ecommerce architecture, and total cost of ownership (TCO). He also notes that integrations are made simpler on Shopify, making it an attractive option for clients with multiple Salesforce products.
One such client is Coty, a prominent player in the beauty industry. Maze partnered with Shopify to launch Infiniment, a Coty brand based out of Paris, and saw impressive results with fast speed scores and aesthetically beautiful sites. The client was thrilled with the outcome, stating that they had never seen such a site perform as well.
Maze's partnership with Shopify has been instrumental in their success. They have worked closely with the Shopify Partner team to review their work, provide feedback, and validate their architecture and development decisions. This collaboration has led to more frequent Shopify migrations for Maze, with approximately 10-15 successful implementations under their belt.
Vince Santo emphasized the importance of transparency in migration projects. He believes that clients are often hesitant at first but eventually realize the benefits of switching to a more modern and agile ecommerce platform like Shopify. The company strives to stay transparent throughout the process, guiding clients through road-mapping sessions and identifying gaps and areas for improvement.
Shopify's consistent platform improvements have made it an attractive option for enterprise clients. Vince noted that the company has enhanced its product bundling capabilities, supported cross-border global commerce with its Markets capability, and increased the number of product variants that may be supported.
