Shut Down AI-Generated Content with Google's Hidden 'Verbatim' Feature

Many users have experienced frustration when searching for answers online only to find irrelevant results. To combat this, some platforms like LinkedIn and Pinterest have introduced features to filter out AI-generated content. According to Alex Barrientos at Gadget Review, Google offers a feature called 'Verbatim' that can provide more accurate results when used correctly. By default, Google 'corrects spelling, swaps synonyms, personalizes based on your history, and sometimes makes entire words optional,' which can lead to unwanted search results.

Barrientos explains that switching to Verbatim Mode 'shuts down this helpful chaos, returning only pages containing your exact words in the exact order you typed them.' To access this feature, users can click on the 'Tools' menu at the top of their Google search page and select 'Verbatim.'

While there is no one-button solution to defaulting to Verbatim Mode every time, Barrientos suggests creating a custom browser with the URL https://www.google.com/search?q=%s&oq=%s&tbs=li:1. This will force Verbatim mode automatically and provide more precise search results.
