Sieg Takes First Win, Misses Playoffs
Ryan Sieg and his family-owned team RSS Racing have achieved their first win in the O'Reilly Series, but it came at a cost. Sieg took home the victory in the Winn-Dixie 250 Powered by Coca-Cola at Daytona International Speedway, overcoming early setbacks to cross the finish line first.
'It's tough sometimes, it's a bummer a lot of the times and you never think it's ever going to go your way, and you just got to be strong and just try to chase your dreams,' Sieg said in an interview. He acknowledged the mental and physical demands of competing over a long career.
The victory was a significant milestone for Sieg and his team, who have been working together for years. 'When I saw those checkered flags, I knew it was ours, and just the relief, you know what I mean, all the pressure that I put on myself and just all the hard work finally has paid off,' Sieg said.
Despite earning his first win, Sieg did not make the cut for the playoffs. The top 12 finishers from the series will advance to the postseason, with the Fleetio 200 at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina being the next event on September 5th.
