Siemens Energy Pursues Dual Track Strategy Amid Global Market Volatility
Siemens Energy is pursuing two significant projects that could reshape its portfolio and identity. In Guyana, the company is working to bring a flagship gas project online, with a first gas turbine expected to come online by year-end. This initiative will overhaul how the South American nation sources electricity and will serve as an operator of the facility for five years, with an extension option and a two-decade maintenance contract.
The project's structure locks in a multi-year service revenue stream, which is part of Siemens Energy's emerging-market pipeline that is widening. The company has been courting investors for its industrial arm, Transformation of Industry (TI), which was set up as a standalone business with a majority stake earmarked for sale.
Goldman Sachs has begun testing the market for a potential transaction related to TI, which posted EUR 5.7 billion in revenue for fiscal 2025 at an 11.3 percent profit margin. The company is also undergoing a brand reset, with Siemens Energy and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy eventually operating under the name 'Omterra'.
The moves aim to sharpen Siemens Energy's focus on lucrative grid technology and power plant equipment businesses, which could benefit shareholders through a leaner structure. However, the valuation and timing of the TI deal remain uncertain, and the stock has faced challenges in recent months due to political noise and market fluctuations.
