Singapore Raises Economic Growth Forecast, but PC Prices May Soar
The Ministry of Trade and Industry in Singapore upgraded its economic growth forecast for 2026 from between 2% and 4% to 4.5% and 5.5%. This revision reflects a better-than-expected performance by the country's economy in the first half of 2026.
JPMorgan Chase raised its targets for Singapore stocks, citing stronger economic growth, an appreciating Singapore dollar, and expectations that local shares will close their valuation discount to other developed markets. The Straits Times Index (STI) may hit 7,000 over the next 12 months in a bull case scenario, representing a 22% increase from its current value.
However, the shortage of graphics cards and other key components could make personal computers more expensive in the second half of 2026. PC Partner Group warned that graphics card availability will likely deteriorate further, leading to higher costs and longer delivery times.
