Singapore Set for Quantum-Safe Cybersecurity Hub with SIT and IBM Partnership
Singapore is set to become a hub for quantum-safe cybersecurity as the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and IBM announce a partnership to launch a specialized centre by the end of 2026.
The facility, located at SIT's Punggol Campus, will provide a controlled environment where organizations can assess their current security posture and navigate the transition towards post-quantum cryptography.
As quantum computing capabilities advance, experts warn that traditional encryption methods may become susceptible to decryption. The new centre will address these risks by allowing companies to simulate and test defensive measures using IBM's specialized tools, including the Guardium Cryptography Manager and Quantum Safe Explorer.
The centre will also focus on workforce development, with SIT and IBM introducing two Continuing Education and Training (CET) programmes later this year. A one-day Executive Programme will be tailored for business leaders, board members, and chief information security officers, focusing on governance and strategic risk management. Simultaneously, a three-day Foundation Programme will provide cybersecurity practitioners, software developers, and IT engineers with practical training in cryptographic risk discovery and enterprise migration planning.
