Single Mother's Six-Year Cancer Battle Ends with Unwavering Strength
Candiss Elizabeth Thompson lived a life of unwavering strength and selfless love. Born on April 5, 1960, in Spearman, Texas, she passed away peacefully surrounded by her family's love. After growing up in New Mexico and Stephenville, Texas, Candiss moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area where she raised her children while building a career in the travel industry.
She began as a gate agent with Delta Air Lines before becoming a corporate travel consultant for American Express and later Lockheed Martin. Eventually, she joined her family's business, dedicating herself to caring for both of her parents until their passing. Candiss also worked in various positions throughout Hood County, but health issues eventually forced her to focus on fighting cancer.
Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013, Candiss underwent surgery and completed treatment, becoming cancer-free. However, the cancer returned as Stage IV in 2020, with a prognosis of only a few years left. Despite this, Candiss courageously fought for six more years, creating precious memories with her family while facing the disease head-on.
Her love for travel and exploration was unmatched, and she cherished every opportunity to experience new places. Candiss also had a passion for college football, politics, and lively conversations. Above all else, her greatest joy was her family, children Cutter, Casi, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter Kimber.
