Six Decades of Reinvention: Moncrieff's Journey Through IT Eras
Moncrieff Technology Solutions marked its 60th anniversary on July 18, 2026, having evolved from an electrical contracting company to a managed services and cyber security business. Founded by Jim, Lillian, and Bill Moncrieff in 1966 as WJ Moncrieff, the company initially represented multiple businesses before expanding into electronics during the 1970s.
Throughout its history, Moncrieff has repeatedly reinvented itself to stay ahead of technological changes. One early turning point came with the distribution of Liberty computer terminals from Taiwan in the 1980s. The company became an IBM PC business partner in 1987, a relationship that helped establish it in Australia's growing commercial computer market.
Today, Moncrieff focuses on managed services, cloud computing, cyber security, and artificial intelligence. In 2025, the company launched its cyber security practice, Moncrieff Cyber M8, to help customers improve their cyber resilience and align with the Australian Signals Directorate's Essential Eight framework.
