Skyworks Shares Soar Amid Merger Optimism
Skyworks Solutions Inc., trading under the ticker SWKS on the NASDAQ, has seen its shares surge by 28% over the past five days. This significant increase makes it likely to be the top performer in the S&P 500 index for this week.
The upward trend is largely attributed to the improving chances of a merger between Skyworks and Qorvo Inc., which cleared U.S. antitrust review in early August and moved forward with China's SAMR review to Phase III. Skyworks CEO Phil Brace highlighted potential synergies and an 'AI edge' at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference on Thursday, but also mentioned near-term cost pressures.
Meanwhile, two other companies saw significant gains: Frequency Electronics Inc., trading under FEIM on NASDAQ, rose 30.7% after its first-quarter earnings exceeded estimates by $0.26 per share, reaching $0.41. ACV Auctions Inc., listed on NYSE as ACVA, jumped 44.3% following Copart Inc.'s acquisition announcement at $10.50 per share in cash.
