Slide Deployment Grounds British Airways Flight to Heathrow
A British Airways Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner was forced to delay its departure from London Heathrow due to an unexpected emergency evacuation slide deployment on the tarmac.
The incident occurred when a catering truck was positioned alongside the aircraft, causing the rear left door's emergency slide to inadvertently inflate. Ground crew witnessed the unexpected deployment and immediately halted pre-flight preparations while safety teams inspected the plane and handled the inflated slide.
Despite the two-hour and 30-minute delay, the aircraft eventually departed and landed at London Heathrow on schedule, but its subsequent flight to Newark Liberty International Airport was cancelled due to necessary maintenance checks required after an accidental slide deployment.
