SM Energy Reports Strong Q2 Earnings with Reduced Debt and Raised Production Outlook
SM Energy reported its second-quarter results, highlighting merger synergies, debt reduction, and free-cash-flow generation.
The company generated $467 million in adjusted free cash flow during the quarter and returned $137 million to stockholders through dividends and share repurchases.
CEO Beth McDonald said SM Energy has actioned about $355 million of its $375 million run-rate merger synergy target, nearly doubling its original estimate.
The company reduced net debt by approximately $1.1 billion during the quarter and reaffirmed its full-year 2026 capital spending guidance of $2.65 billion to $2.85 billion.
