Somon Air Bolsters Fleet with Second Boeing 737 MAX 8 Aircraft

Tajikistan's privately owned airline Somon Air has expanded its fleet with a second Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The plane is named after Abu Abdullah Roudaki, the founder of classical Persian-Tajik literature.

The new addition is part of Somon Air's strategy to expand its route network and fleet. The Boeing 737 MAX 8 will initially operate international flights from Dushanbe to Seoul, Beijing, Minsk, and London, with plans to deploy it on additional routes as the airline grows.

Somon Air received its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 on July 27, 2026. The airline has stated that the Boeing 737 MAX 8 will form the backbone of its fleet for short- and medium-haul routes.
