Somon Air Takes Delivery of First Boeing 737 MAX 8

Somon Air, an airline based in Tajikistan, has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX 8. This marks a significant milestone for the airline as it becomes the first in Tajikistan to operate the latest-generation narrowbody aircraft.

The aircraft, leased from Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE), is the first of two MAX jets scheduled for delivery under an agreement between Somon Air and Boeing. The 737-8 will be deployed on short- and medium-haul routes across Central Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

The airline currently operates a fleet of four Boeing 737-800s, two 737-900ERs, and one 787-8 Dreamliner. Somon Air's decision to acquire the 737 MAX aircraft is part of its fleet renewal plan, which aims to modernize its fleet and expand its operations.

The additional range of the 737-8 will allow future flights to destinations such as London, Beijing, and Guangzhou. The airline has maintained an all-Boeing fleet throughout its history since launching operations in 2008.
