Sonja Stills Signs Five-Year Contract Extension with Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Commissioner Sonja Stills has signed a new five-year contract extension, solidifying her position at the conference until 2031. Dr. Javaune Adams-Gaston, president of Norfolk State University, praised Stills' collaborative approach and dedication to elevating the MEAC.
Since taking over as commissioner, Stills has overseen significant growth for the conference, including expanding its championship sports portfolio and launching the MEAC Network. She has also negotiated major media partnerships with ESPN and secured landmark deals that have increased scholarship opportunities.
Stills is a leading voice in HBCU athletics and serves as Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Chair for the College Commissioners Association. Her leadership has earned numerous honors, including the 2025 Women Leaders in Sports Nike Executive of the Year Award.
