South Park Renamed to South America in Satirical Jab at Apple and Google
The creators of South Park have announced that they are renaming the show 'South America' in a satirical jab at Apple and Google. The move comes after the tech giants updated their map platforms to rename Lake Ontario 'Lake America' following President Donald Trump's executive order.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the show's creators, made the announcement on Instagram ahead of the release of its 29th season on September 16. They wrote: 'Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA.'
The post included a picture of the South Park logo with a license plate spelling out 'AMERICA' pinned over the word 'Park'. A glowing US flag was added in the corner for extra flourish.
