South Park Renames Itself as 'South America' in Swipe at Trump
South Park is making headlines for more than just its latest season. The show's creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have announced that they're changing the show's name to South America for Season 29. This move is a clear jab at U.S. President Donald Trump's attempts to rename parts of the world in his image.
The change comes after Apple and Google were criticized for renaming Lake Ontario as 'Lake America' on their Maps apps, following an order from Trump as part of Washington's trade spat with Canada. Google also re-designated the Gulf of Mexico as the 'Gulf of America' in 2025, sparking a lawsuit from Mexico.
The name change is just one aspect of South Park's latest season, which will consist of six episodes. The season premieres on September 16 and will be available to stream on Paramount+ the next day.
