'South Park' Renames Itself 'South America' in Mocking Tribute to Trump's Name Changes
The popular adult animated series 'South Park' has undergone a name change ahead of its 29th season premiere. The show's creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have announced that they will be changing the title to 'South America'.
In a statement, the pair expressed their gratitude to Apple and Google for their 'bravery and patriotism', which allegedly inspired the name change. They also thanked Paramount, a Skydance Capitulation company.
The move is seen as a satirical jab at President Donald Trump's recent orders to rename geographic bodies with 'America' in their names. This includes Lake Ontario, now officially known as Lake America, and New Mexico, which may soon be renamed New America. The Gulf of Mexico has also been rebranded as the Gulf of America.
The show's creators have a history of mocking Trump and his administration, including a previous season that skewered him and his policies. 'South Park' Season 29 premieres on September 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central, with new episodes available to stream on Paramount+ the next day in the U.S., Canada, and Australia.
