SpaceX's Public Float Set to Rise as BlackRock and Vanguard Increase Stakes
The public float of SpaceX shares is about to increase significantly as more shares become eligible for sale.
In June, SpaceX sold 639 million shares at its initial public offering (IPO), making roughly 5% of the share count available for sale. Another wave of 911.5 million shares will be unlocked on Aug. 6, and even more in the coming months.
The company has a total of 13.181 billion shares outstanding, with Alphabet holding 4.2% of those shares and Nvidia holding 0.9%. BlackRock and Vanguard combined hold less than 1% each.
This may change soon as major investment management firms like BlackRock and Vanguard increase their stakes in SpaceX. Nine Vanguard ETFs opened positions in SpaceX in June, and those positions will likely grow as more shares are unlocked and trading on the Nasdaq increases.
