SPEEA and Boeing Resume Talks Amid Strike Threat
Boeing and the engineers' union SPEEA are set to resume talks on Monday for a new collective agreement. The discussions come after two previous proposals from Boeing were rejected, with the possibility of a strike looming. A survey conducted by SPEEA among its members revealed that immediate, substantial, and guaranteed salary increases are their top priority.
The second key demand is an increase in funds allocated for salaries, also known as economic reserves that Boeing assigns to annual salary increases. Annual adjustments for the cost of living follow closely behind, according to the union's statement. The aerospace company is currently in the final phase of certification for its 737 Max 10 and 777X models.
A potential strike by engineers and technicians could have a direct impact on this process, which has already accumulated numerous delays. SPEEA groups various professional profiles across five states in the United States, although it does not include Boeing's production staff.
