SPEEA Members Reject Boeing Contract Offer, Authorize Potential Strike
SPEEA members overwhelmingly rejected Boeing's proposed four-year labor contract offer in a vote that saw nearly 92% of eligible union members participate. The Professional Unit, which represents around 13,000 engineers and scientists at Boeing, voted down the proposal with a 64.3% no vote, while the Technical Unit, representing over 4,000 analysts, designers, technicians, and specialists, rejected it with a 71.9% no vote.
The union has authorized a strike if an agreement can't be reached before the current contract's expiration date on October 6. Professional Unit members approved strike authorization with an 87.8% vote in favor, while Technical Unit members did so with an 89.7% vote.
SPEEA is willing to resume talks with Boeing but plans to survey its members first to see what changes would be needed to secure approval of a new contract.
