Sports Fans Demand Streamlined Digital Experiences
A recent IBM study has revealed that sports fans are seeking streamlined digital experiences as they navigate multiple platforms, subscriptions, and technology. The survey, which polled over 20,000 sports fans across 12 countries, found that nearly half (46%) of respondents reported higher digital expectations than one to two years ago.
The study also showed that convenience and access to exclusive content are the top reasons why fans choose digital viewing over linear broadcasting. In fact, 30% of surveyed fans say they most likely use a subscription streaming service to watch live sports, nearly even with the 29% who select linear broadcast.
AI usage has gained momentum, but accuracy is key to building trust among fans. Only 45% of respondents prioritize highly accurate sports information compared with 23% who prioritize speed.
The study also highlighted the growing demand for a centralized sports app that can consolidate all content in one place. While nearly half (47%) of respondents said they would be likely to download and use such an app, only about three in ten (29%) are willing to subscribe and pay for it.
