Starlink Surpasses 11,000 Satellites, Leaving Amazon Far Behind
Elon Musk recently revealed on X that Starlink now has over 11,000 satellites in orbit. This milestone highlights SpaceX's rapid progress in the low-earth-orbit broadband market. In contrast, Amazon's satellite unit, Kuiper, lags behind with only around 400 satellites in orbit.
A closer look at the KeepTrack satellite catalog as of July 2026 shows that Starlink dominates the LEO constellation market. The top five largest LEO constellations are led by Starlink, followed by OneWeb and Amazon's Kuiper.
SpaceX has launched an impressive 12,444 Starlink satellites since May 2019, with around 1,660 having already reentered Earth's atmosphere. This is a testament to the company's launch cadence, which averages two to three Starlink missions per week.
