State Road 44 Set for Major Development Boost
County commissioners in Citrus County have approved an increase in commercial space for the Clearview Estates project along State Road 44 in Inverness. The decision allows for up to 358,600 additional square feet of shops, offices, and other development.
The request was submitted by Citrus Hills Investment Properties, which owns the property where Home Depot is being built. The current plan allows for about 450,000 square feet of commercial space, but the developer says it's not enough to fully develop the remaining land.
Home Depot will take up around 137,000 square feet of floor space when it opens. The county commissioners' decision does not mean that bulldozers can start work immediately - any future projects must still go through the development-review process and comply with local requirements.
