Stevens Point Sees Surge in Incidents Over Past Week
A series of incidents occurred in Stevens Point over the past week, according to the Stevens Point Police Report. On August 21, a man refused to leave the post office after a disagreement about a package, calling staff 'thieves'.
The next day, a 23-year-old man was cited for urinating in public, and a 21-year-old man was arrested on Division Street for OWI first offense. A woman reported being followed by a suspicious male who claimed to be visiting a friend.
On August 23, an officer observed a 34-year-old man with a beer bottle, leading to multiple citations and one arrest in The Square. A hit-and-run crash on Highway 10 resulted in the arrest of a 52-year-old man.
The following days saw various incidents, including a bike stolen from Fifth Avenue, a woman receiving 58 sheets of plywood she didn't order from Home Depot, and a group of juveniles kicked out of Target for building forts. On August 27, officers located a 45-year-old man outside Kims Barrel Inn with two knives after he became upset during a disturbance.
