Stock Market Surges as Treasury Yields Drop and Rate-Hike Odds Decrease
The stock market saw significant gains on Thursday, led by the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which rose 1.2% to 53,686.
This surge was largely driven by a decrease in Treasury yields and a reduction in rate-hike odds, following comments from Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller.
Waller stated that while inflation is above the central bank's target of 2%, he sees 'some signs of disinflation' and would hold the federal funds rate at its current setting if this trend continues.
Nvidia rose 1.8% after announcing a $13 billion purchase of Hugging Face, an open-source AI platform.
Tesla also climbed 5.4%, ahead of its Cybercab event in Austin, Texas.
