Sugar Slams Amex Over Credit Limit Denial
Billionaire Lord Alan Sugar has blasted American Express after being denied an increase to his credit limit. The 79-year-old entrepreneur, worth £1.138 billion, had spent an hour on the phone with the company, speaking to four different people before being refused.
Lord Sugar claimed that even when he spoke to someone who was aware of his financial status, it made no difference in the outcome.
'I spent an hour on the phone with American Express,' he wrote. 'I was past (sic) to 4 different people. I was asking for an increase in my credit limit.'
Lord Sugar received a backlash online for his complaint, with one commenter questioning why he expected 'royal treatment' and another asking how he could justify needing a credit card when he was worth billions.
