Sugar Slams Amex Over Credit Limit Refusal
Alan Sugar, a British businessman and star of The Apprentice, has publicly criticized American Express after they refused to increase his credit limit. Despite having an estimated net worth of over £1 billion, Sugar was unable to convince the company to raise his limit.
Sugar took to social media to share his frustration, stating that he spent an hour on the phone with American Express, speaking to four different people before being told that their system would not allow for a credit limit increase. He revealed that one of the representatives knew who he was and his financial status, but still refused the request.
Sugar's post sparked a mix of reactions from followers, with some questioning why he expected special treatment as a billionaire and accusing him of hypocrisy. Others defended Sugar, pointing out that having a credit card is not unusual for someone in his position, even if they have significant wealth. Sugar responded to the criticism, stating 'I AM NOT MOANING JUST EXPOSING WHAT A BUNCH OF IDIOTS AMEX ARE.'
American Express has been contacted for comment.
