A cyberattack compromised around 200 accounts at Switzerland's Federal Office of Information Technology, Systems and Telecommunication (BIT), according to recent reports.

The breach occurred on Microsoft SharePoint servers, which were targeted by hackers who exploited vulnerabilities disclosed by Microsoft in mid-July. The attackers most likely used one of two specific vulnerabilities: CVE-2026-56164 or CVE-2026-50522.

BIT's security specialists detected the intrusion on July 28 and promptly blocked internet access to the platform, resetting passwords for all affected accounts. An investigation is ongoing in collaboration with Microsoft and the Federal Office for Cybersecurity (BACS).
