Taiwanese Officials Indicted Over Illegal Nvidia Server Exports to China
The Keelung District Prosecutors' Office in Taiwan has indicted eight individuals for allegedly illegally exporting Supermicro servers equipped with advanced Nvidia chips to China.
The defendants include senior managers from international companies and Taiwanese firms, including a distribution manager at Nvidia's Taiwan office and sales managers at the Taiwan branch of Supermicro Computer Inc.
Prosecutors allege that the men conspired to resell the AI servers for profit, despite strict controls in place due to their powerful computing capabilities.
The indictment involves three transactions, with 74 servers ultimately being delivered to Chinese buyers through various means, including shipment via Indonesia and Hong Kong.
