Take-Two Launches Subpoena War on GTA VI Leaker
Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, is taking drastic measures to identify and stop the leaker behind the recent Grand Theft Auto VI footage. The company has filed two petitions for subpoenas in the Southern District of New York to compel Microsoft and Discord to hand over information linked to the leak.
The subpoenas target a GitHub repository allegedly hosting Take-Two's copyrighted material, including audiovisual content, artwork, and dialogue. Microsoft is being asked to provide business records related to their internal investigation into the 'cyberleek' persona.
For Discord, Take-Two is seeking identifying information on several accounts and servers, including CYBERLEEK, CINEMATICROCKSTAR, and Surfer24k. The company also wants details on a server run by GTA V content creator DarkViperAU and another called !Odyssey.
The leak of GTA VI footage started earlier this week, with Take-Two quickly issuing takedown requests to limit the spread of information about the game. Despite these efforts, new videos suggesting Cyberleek had access to a working build of the game continued to emerge.
