A federal judge in New York has approved Take-Two's subpoena requests against Microsoft and Discord to identify the anonymous online persona known as 'Cyberleek', who leaked unauthorised gameplay footage from Grand Theft Auto VI.

The leak occurred just weeks before the game's scheduled worldwide launch on November 19, 2026. The publisher is taking a firm stance to protect its proprietary assets and prevent further distribution of pre-release assets.

Take-Two wants access to IP logs, device IDs, and OneDrive data connected to the leak. Microsoft and Discord must provide the requested records by September 4, 2026. The subpoenas also note that copyrighted content from the game appeared on Microsoft's GitHub developer platform.
