Take-Two Subpoenas Microsoft and Discord Over GTA VI Leaks
Top-Two Interactive, the parent company of 'Grand Theft Auto VI' developer Rockstar Games, has issued subpoenas to Microsoft and Discord. The move comes after multiple gameplay leaks of the highly anticipated video game spread across social media this week.
The subpoenas request information linked to Discord accounts and servers believed to be behind the leaks, including 'CYBERLEEK,' an account that posted the footage on Discord and X (formerly Twitter). Take-Two is seeking data from Microsoft related to a GitHub website where the leaks were initially published.
The leaks showed gameplay of one of the game's main characters driving, playing basketball, flying a plane, and brawling. The company has not commented on the legitimacy of the leaks or the supposed manifesto posted online by the leakers.
Some gamers have expressed concerns about the shift from physical discs to digital releases, citing issues with permanent ownership. 'No consumer shall pay for a game through digital storefronts before release and independent review,' the manifesto stated.
