Tame Your Google Photos Library with These Essential Settings
Google Photos offers many features that users can customize to suit their needs. One of these features is Storage Saver mode, which allows users to upload more photos without running out of cloud storage space. When enabled, this feature automatically scales down photos and videos to a respectable quality level, reducing the amount of storage needed.
Users can also use the Hide Faces feature to block specific individuals from appearing in Memories, such as an ex-partner or someone they'd rather not see. To do this, go to Photos settings > Preferences > Memories > Hide Faces and choose the faces that need to be blocked.
The Locked Folder in Google Photos allows users to save sensitive photos or documents in a secure folder. However, by default, these contents are local-only and won't be backed up to the cloud. To enable cloud backup for locked files, go to the Collections tab, swipe all the way to the bottom, and choose Locked Folder during setup.
Another feature that can help users manage their storage space is Recover Storage. This tool sifts through already uploaded photos and videos and compresses them to a lower quality level, freeing up more space on the user's cloud storage plan.
