Tariff Refunds Give Walmart Stock a Boost
Walmart's stock price has been rising on news that the company will receive $2.9 billion in tariff refunds, which is expected to boost third-quarter results.
The refund will not only provide an immediate profit boost but also help fund lower shelf prices in the final quarter, turning the windfall into a volume and traffic lever rather than an immediate profit gain.
Walmart's fiscal second quarter 2027 earnings report, released on August 20, showed revenue of $187.94 billion and adjusted EPS of $0.81, beating expectations by $0.07.
The current valuation of Walmart stock is already rich, with a P/E ratio of 38.68 and a market cap of $850.02 billion as of September 8, 2026.
Analysts remain bullish on the company, with Tigress Financial's Ivan Feinseth reiterating a Buy rating and a $155 price target, while Goldman Sachs raised its target to $132 from $130.
