Tariff Refunds Surpass $100 Billion Amid Ongoing Trade Uncertainty
The Trump administration's tariff refunds have surpassed $100 billion, with some of the largest checks going to well-known consumer-facing companies.
Apple received the biggest IEEPA refund so far, totaling $2.19 billion in its fiscal third quarter, which boosted its quarterly earnings per share by $0.11.
Other major recipients include Amazon, Ford, General Motors, UPS, and Walmart, with Amazon planning to return some of its $600 million refund to customers.
The Trump administration is issuing up to $166 billion in tariff refunds after the U.S. Supreme Court invalidated the tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
New tariffs have been imposed on more than 80 countries, ranging from 10% to 12.5%, which are expected to increase consumer prices and inflation.
