TAROM Names Boeing Aircraft After Romanian Rowing Champion
TAROM has named its new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft after Ivan Patzaichin, the Olympic champion from Romania. The ceremony to sign the protocol authorizing the use of his name took place on Wednesday, attended by Patzaichin's wife and daughter, as well as TAROM CEO Cristian Anghel.
Ivan Patzaichin was born in a modest family of fishermen in the Danube Delta and rose to become one of the world's top rowers. He won Olympic gold in 1972 after his paddle broke during a qualifying race.
TAROM is continuing its initiative to name aircraft after Romanian sports heroes, following 'Mircea Lucescu' last month and 'Nadia Comaneci' earlier this year. The company aims to pay tribute to those who have inspired generations through their achievements.
