TAROM Names New Boeing 737 MAX Aircraft After Ivan Patzaichin

TAROM, Romania's flag carrier airline, has announced that its new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will be named after Ivan Patzaichin, a legendary Romanian kayaker and Olympic champion. The naming ceremony took place on August 19, 2026, attended by Ivan Patzaichin's family and TAROM's General Director, Cristian Anghel.

The decision to name the aircraft after Ivan Patzaichin is part of TAROM's initiative to associate its planes with notable Romanian personalities. This program started in 2024 when the 'Nadia Comăneci' aircraft was named after the famous gymnast.
