Tarom Takes Delivery of First 737 MAX Aircraft Amid Financial Struggles
Tarom's First 737 MAX Aircraft Lands in Bucharest
The Romanian airline Tarom has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, a 737-8 registered YR-BGO, which arrived at Henri Coandă airport in Bucharest on September 8th.
The aircraft was formally delivered by Boeing, Tarom, and lessor CDB Aviation on September 12th. It has been named Mircea Lucescu after the Romanian football manager, with his family granting the name rights for free.
Tarom plans to use the 737 MAX to replace its four existing Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft, which burn more fuel than the newer model. The airline operates around ten aircraft and serves over 50 destinations, mostly through codeshares.
