TAROM Takes Delivery of First Boeing 737-8 Jet
Romanian airline TAROM has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737-8 jet from CDB Aviation. The aircraft, named after football figure Mircea Lucescu, will replace older jets on European routes. The 737-8 is powered by CFM LEAP-1B engines and features Boeing's Sky Interior, which reduces emissions by 20% compared to prior models.
The new jet offers improved fuel efficiency and passenger comfort with modern cabin features. Two more units are scheduled to arrive by the end of this year, with six additional planes planned through 2027. Routes will link Bucharest to major European capitals, supporting TAROM's restructuring goals for operational efficiency and fleet modernization.
TAROM expects the new jets to boost revenue on high-demand corridors while meeting sustainability targets. The airline emphasized the symbolic naming and technological alignment with its long-term operational vision.
