Romania's national carrier TAROM has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, marking the introduction of the 737 MAX family into its fleet.

The delivery was celebrated in Bucharest on September 12, 2026. According to Boeing's announcement, it is also the first aircraft of this type in Romania.

The TAROM 737 MAX, named Mircea Lucescu, is leased from CDB Aviation and is the first of two such aircraft that the airline will operate. This marks a significant step in TAROM's fleet renewal plan, which aims to improve operational efficiency and lay the foundations for long-term growth.

TAROM CEO Cristian Anghel highlighted the importance of this move, stating 'The addition of the first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to the TAROM fleet is a pivotal moment in the company's transformation process. Fleet renewal and efficient operational capacity are essential components of our restructuring plan.'
