Romanian flag carrier TAROM has received its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, leased from CDB Aviation and registered YR-BGO. The plane arrived at Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport after a delivery flight from Seattle with a stop in Keflavik, Iceland.

The aircraft was named Mircea Lucescu after the Romanian football coach and former player. This is the first of two 737-8s that CDB Aviation will supply to TAROM, with the second scheduled for delivery this autumn.

TAROM has not disclosed the source of its other two 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The airline initially ordered five 737 MAX 8s in July 2018, but those deliveries did not proceed as planned due to a restructuring process that included workforce and network reductions.
